Planning a beach trip mid-August doesn't really bode up well due to rains and typhoons hitting the country and we had a first hand experience about that thanks to typhoon Maring and the southwest moonson (Habagat) it brought upon.
We learned about this hidden paradise in Calatagan, Batangas through various blogs saying that Burot Beach is owned by SM corporation and it will be developed soon into a first class resort. Being the beach lover that I am(just recently haha), I thought we have no time to spare and quickly planned an overnight trip to Burot Beach even if the rainy season in our country is still in full swing. We left Bacoor, Cavite around 9 am and it was still sunny until we arrived at Tagaytay where dark clouds started to hover above us together with intermittent rain showers. It was still drizzling when we got around Lian, Batangas but then it seemed like Lady Luck shined upon us as the sun finally showed up when we arrived at Calatagan around 12:30 pm. After passing that part, you have to get ready as there are only rough and rocky roads until you get to Burot Beach.

The last leg of the trip to Burot Beach after passing the public market is composed of driving through rough roads. |
With help from our smarthphone's GPS, we got to Burot Beach without getting lost, though rattled from the 25 minute rough road drive. The entrance per person overnight is P130 and we got a table for P200.

The views that greeted us upon arriving at Burot Beach. |
The sun was still shining when we arrived though the winds are very strong. I wanted to take a dip right away, we still have to prepare our lunch as we haven't eaten yet. We took refuge at the hut of the only sari sari store in the beach to cook our food as the strong winds renders the flames of our butane stove useless outside.

The Starex van still seems to be intact after the bumpy ride :p |

Very late lunch of breaded porkchop, salad, and salted eggs |
It was still sunny when were eating lunch but then not long after, it started to drizzle and the sun hid on the dark clouds above us. We skipped setting up our tents and just started to play on the beach as it was starting to turn dark because and the rains getting stronger.

Selfie + Starfish = Sel-fish! |
It's the first time I've been on a beach with a very looooong shoreline! Even if you venture out far from the sandy shores, it will still be around waist deep. Thanks to that, you can't barely feel waves hitting even if the winds are blowing really hard that day.

Some underwater creatures we've found |
Starfish tentacles looks scary

Beware as there are sea urchins scattered on the beach >.< |
The rocky part on the right side of the beach
Finding some crabs? hehe
It was raining hard and the wind was strong and cold when we started to call it quits on exploring the rocky part of the beach. We tried setting up our tents but the wind is just too strong and it feels like it can blow the tent any time so we stopped pitching and passed time playing basketball and volleyball as there is a basketball ring and volleyball net available beside the sari sari store. The rain somehow stopped so we took the moment to start preparing dinner and pitch our tents once again. It was then after we have pitched our tents and the butane stove ready to fire when the very strong wind and rain drew on us. It was very strong that we were forced to remove the tent and take shelter inside the van. After some contemplating, we just decided to call it a day and return to the house of our friend in Cavite to spend the night.
Anyways, after this somehow failed trip we decided that we will return to Burot Beach for revenge and you can watch out for it on a later post!
