Ermita Hill

Who would not love to see a relaxing view on a sunny afternoon at the top of this Ermita Hill? One should climb a stairs or hike a steep cemented road to be at the top of this hill to witness the magnificent view it can offer. Ermita Hill or Ermita Park is open to public starting as early as 6:00 AM in the morning until 7:00 PM.

at the viewing deck of Ermita Hill

Ermita Hill can be reached by a tricycle for more or less 15 minutes, or may take the stairs going up the hill. In our case, as we have our private vehicle, we didn't have a problem going up. Just a quick minutes. When we arrived, there are many people on top of this hill or park, I think they has an ongoing event that time. We just then explore the other area of the park.

If you are going to bring your own vehicle, there is a parking area for cars. I forgot if they do collect parking fees, but as far as I remembered there is none.

the stretch of Sabang Beach

At the viewdeck of this Ermita Hill, you can have a relaxing view of Sabang Beach, Cemento and Dimadimalangat Islet, Baler Bay and of course, the Pacific Ocean. The wind also added an extra relaxation feel to our quick stay there.

There is also a picnic area at the Ermita Park. And there is a chapel and a mini grotto at the side and a few more viewing decks. There were a lot of shades in the area, even though the Ermita Hill turned into a park, the government still managed to maintained its green surroundings. There were a lot of trees, also from the viewing deck there are spaces which you can opt stay, rest and have your picnic.

At the foot of this Hill, you can find the Tromba Marina(tromba marina in spanish word which means tsunami or tidal wave) - the statues represents the 7 families who were devasted by the tsunami that happened in Baler and almost wiped out the whole town way back in 1735. Those families - men, women, and childrens who climbed up the hill are the ones who mostly survived the tsunami. This hill serves as their getaway and their temporary resettlement.
