Mantayupan Falls - The Tallest Waterfall In Cebu

Mantayupan Falls is the tallest waterfall in Cebu at 98 meters high. Located in the town of Barili. The falls itself is not that far from the highway. From the bus stop, we rented a habal-habal which can take 2 persons each motorcycle for P60 back and forth to the falls. After getting to the falls and paying the entrance fee of P20, the falls is just a few minutes walk along a concrete pathway.

At the entrance of the falls
You will pass by some stores inside the compound

The concrete pathway to the falls

At first you will be passing what they refer to as the 2nd Falls. It's not much to write about as it's water flow is weak and it's just 14 meters tall. We just took some pictures and off we go to the 1st Falls.

After some few minutes we were able to see the majestic Mantayupan Falls. The water falls into a deep bluish-green catch basin. The waters are ice cold and it seems like the catch basin is really deep. We didn't get to dip in to the waters as we still have all our bags with us. The area around the basin is rocky and slippery and there are no huts and tables available for rent. I also didn't seems to notice any changing area near the falls.

Going into the falls is a blast and since it's proximity is just close to the highway, it makes the falls a perfect stop if ever you will be traveling from Cebu City heading into South Cebu. To head here, you need to ride a Bato-Barili bus route from the South Bus Terminal in Cebu City and just inform the conductor to drop you off in the bus stop in Barili. There is an ATM in the bus stop if ever you forgot to withdraw cash in the City. From Barili (Shamrock Terminal), you can ride a habal-habal to take you directly at the Mantayupan Falls' entrance. It's just around a 2 hour ride so it's close proximity from Cebu City is perfect if you need to have a short get away from the hustle and bustle of city life :)
