Daraga Church

Daraga church or the Chruch of Nuestra Señora de la Porteria is a centuries-old church and is one of the must visit architecture if you are in Albay. The church is built on top of a hill above the town of Daraga, which also gives it a very nice view of Mt. Mayon in it's background. It was considered a Cultural Treasure by the Nastional Museum back in 2007 and the church has been undergoing restoration work to restore it's facade that has deteriorated because of it's age. The church was built way back in 1773 and has been standing there since then.

We took a tricycle from Albay Parks and Wildlife which cost us P15/head and it dropped us off at the foot of the stairs leading up to the hill where Daraga Church is nestled.

The flight of stairs leading up to Daraga Church

After climbing the stairs, we were welcomed by the Majestic Daraga church overlooking Mt. Mayon in the background with its facade applied with lime coating to protect the structure from deteriorating any further.

Anyways, after entering the church and exploring the paintings and the archutecture inside, we left not long after as  it is already 1:00 PM and we still haven't eaten anything yet since eating some snacks back in NAIA >.<
We went back and descended back the stairs and hailed a jeepney going to Gaisano Mall as we will be eating our lunch at one of the most popular restaurants in Albay which is 1st Colonial Grill. Click here to follow our food trip!
