At the Maria Aurora Baler, stands the Official Millenium Tree of The Philippines. The Old Balete Tree is 600 years old already!. The largest tree I have ever seen of its kind. It is claimed to be the Largest Balete Tree in Asia(also called Banyan Tree).It is one the most visited tourist spot here in Aurora. This Balete Tree is about 60 meters tall.
My first thought about this ancient tree is that its creepy! Lol the stories and movies regarding those of Balete Trees and the bundle of horror scenes with it.
Beforehand, I chanced reading other blogs regarding the entrance fees and all those stuffs. There is no entrance fee that time just donations. But when we went there, there is a 10 pesos entrance fee. I was so disappointed when we arrived, there were sari sari stores or snacks vendor just infront of this tree. Plus, the sounds of the caretaker or the entrance fee holder of this area was so damn loud. We are not here for PARTYING! tsk tsk..
The time we came, of course there is an entrance fee of 10 pesos per head but there were people there that could guide you for free, so before you can go inside, they will let you first wait until the group of people inside is done touring around. Please be noted that it can only accommodate more or less than 10 people inside. Because of its large roots inside, makes it hard to move for more people.
The only thing inside is that its too dark, but you can still get a little amount of light from the sun. The roots that have grown here is so big and you can hold on to it for support while inside. You can still climb up inside of this tree. But remember that its your own safety at your own risk.
